Shawn T. DeMoss
Shawn came to Washington Valley Chapel in the summer of 2012 as the Associate Pastor, uniquely gifted in Evangelism and Outreach. Shawn grew up on the north side of Chicago and played football at Illinois Benedictine College and Illinois State University and came to faith in Christ during these years through Athletes in Action. Subsequently, Shawn attended Moody Bible Institute where he earned a B.A. in Bible Theology. Shawn was then hired as the Assistant Director of the Solheim Center at Moody from 1990 until 1999 where he was able to serve the student body, the community and the professional sports world by hosting the visiting NBA teams of the Chicago Bulls, the USA Olympic Dream Team II, the Women’s USA Olympic Team and the NBA pre-draft camps. Shawn also held chapel services for the Chicago Cubs, the New York Mets and the San Francisco Giants during these years. While serving at the Solheim Center, Shawn earned a Masters in Ministry at Moody Bible Institute.
Shawn’s church ministry experience began at the Uptown Baptist Church in Chicago where he served from 1986 until 1990. His church ministry experience resumed in 1999 at Willow Creek Community Church. In 2000, Shawn came to Chester, NJ to serve as the Director of DaBarn Recreation Center at Grace Bible Chapel. While there, a council of local evangelical pastors ordained Shawn into the Gospel Ministry. In 2011, Shawn transitioned to serve as the Senior Pastor at Grace Bible Chapel before answering God’s call to serve at Washington Valley Chapel as the Associate Pastor in the summer of 2012. He began serving as Pastor of Washington Valley Chapel in April 2015.
Shawn is married to Mary since 1990 and they are blessed with seven children. He likes blueberry pie, and those lovable losers, the Chicago Cubs. His one claim to fame is that he played in a charity basketball game against his childhood hero, Walter Payton.
